Why we need CCTV
Caer Las has a legitimate interest to deploy CCTV cameras in some of our premises used by members of the public, for the purposes of public and staff safety, and crime prevention and detection. Also, CCTV is installed on the outside of some of our buildings for the legitimate interest of monitoring building security, and crime prevention and detection.
Information about our use of CCTV
A system has been chosen which produces clear images which law enforcement bodies (usually the police) can use to investigate crime. These can easily be taken from the system when required.
Cameras have been sited so that they provide clear images.
Cameras have been positioned to avoid capturing the images of persons not visiting the premises.
There are visible signs showing that CCTV is in operation.
We operate CCTV and disclose in accordance with the codes of practice issued by the Information Commissioner and the Home Office.
Regular checks are carried out to ensure that the system is working properly and produces high quality images.
Sharing your information
Images captured by CCTV will not be kept for longer than necessary. However, on occasions there may be a need to keep images for longer, for example where a crime is being investigated.
We will only disclose images and audio to other authorised bodies who intend to use it for the purposes stated above. Images and audio will not be released to the media for entertainment purposes or placed on the internet for public viewing.
Images from this CCTV system are securely stored. Only a limited number of authorised persons may have access to them.
The recorded images will only be retained long enough for any incident to come to light (e.g. for a theft to be noticed) and the incident to be investigated. Recorded images are stored for a set period, after which they are recorded over.
Caer Las is committed to maintaining the security of your personal information. We are committed to reducing risks of human error, theft, fraud, and misuse of our IT facilities. We make staff aware of security policies and train our employees to implement them. Our staff are obligated to sign written confidentiality agreements, attend regular training on information protection, and comply with company policies concerning protection of confidential information. We are Cyber Essentials certified.
You have the right to see CCTV images of yourself and be provided with a copy of the images.
You will be asked to prove your identity, so that we can determine that you are entitled to see the recorded images.
Where your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive we may charge a “reasonable fee” for the administrative costs of complying with the request.
