All clients accessing Caer Las’ services have the opportunity to talk to a trained Solution Focused Practitioner. Solution focus practice provides clients with a one-to-one private conversation, where they can talk about the things that they would like to be different, better or changed. These conversations are offered in a variety of different environments such an individual’s own home, in one of our Outreach drop-in centres, in community etc. - where ever suits the individual.
During the conversation, individuals are not given unwanted advice or told what to do, but are asked respectful questions, and encouraged to talk about future hopes and aspirations. There is a focus on exploring people’s strengths and resources, and what is already working.
Solution focus practice is becoming well established in the helping professions, including social work, mental health and well-being services, where people need practical, timely support.
This type of conversation has been proven to help many people to make useful changes in their life. It was developed in the USA in the 1980’s, and is now used worldwide on every continent.
